Chief Pustizzi began his career with the Coral Springs Police Department in 1988. He served as a patrol officer and a Detective in the Criminal Investigations Unit until he was promoted to the rank of Sergeant in 1995.
During his tenure as Sergeant, he served as supervisor to a wide variety of units within the agency including the Patrol Component, the Field Training Program, and Criminal Investigations. He was promoted to the rank of Captain in 2002 and served as the Criminal Investigations Unit Commander where he oversaw the General and Special Investigations Unit, Youth Liaison Unit, Crime Scene Investigations, and the Vice, Intelligence and Narcotics Unit.
Chief Pustizzi served on the Special Response Team for over 15 years. He held numerous positions on the team and ultimately was selected as Team Commander.
Upon his promotion to Deputy Chief in 2005, he spent the next seven years moving between the Operations and Administration Divisions. Chief Pustizzi was sworn in as Chief of Police in March 2012.
Chief Pustizzi has served as State President for the Florida Chapter of the FBI National Academy Associates. He is currently the Chairperson for the National Benchmark Cities Chiefs Association, an Executive Board Member of the South Florida High Intensity Drug Trafficking Area program, an Executive Board Member of the Broward County Chiefs of Police Association, and is a long standing member of the city’s Martin Luther King Jr. Committee.
